hi,

i had this code which worked well previously. today after a long time i tested my macro and got 'error 3706. Provider cannot be found'

Dim cn1 As ADODB.Connection

Set cn1 = New ADODB.Connection

With cn1
.Provider = "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0"
.ConnectionString = "" & connectName & "" & _
"Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;"
.Open
End With

any help on this would be appreciated

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
Have you tried
Code:
.Provider = "Provider = Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0"

Done any upgrades / addins lately.

I was only throwing in a long shot, so don't have much more to offer...
