Dear Sir,

I am making a budget format where in I have a cell which calculates over or under budget percentage.

If I put in '0' as the budgeted figure the percentage cell shows an error, but if I put in '1' as budgeted figure it doesn't show any error. But I don't want to put '1' as the budgeted figure because it will start adding up in the total cell at the bottom.

Example of a formula I am using: '=100*F8/B8' where F8 is variance and B8 is budgeted amount.

Please help.

Thanking you,

With warm regards,

Devang

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
For instance - test whether B8 is 0 or not:

=IF(B8=0,"",100*F8/B8)

Thank you so much, I copied same formula as you suggested, it shows '100' in percentage cell but doesn't change when value is entered or changed in the related cells.

Please help.

Regards

Do you have Calculation turned to Automatic? Check in Tools>Options>Calculation (xl2003) or Office button/File Ribbon>Excel Options/Options>Formulas section in 2007/2010.

Do you change B8, or what cells are changed?
