Dear board,

I have a very enoying problem. I'm working in xls 2003 and recently I inserted one sheet with values from a xls 2007 file into my file. there are no links in that tabsheet. ever since, I get an error message on opening of the file. Even now, and I already removed that sheet again, it keeps popping up on opening of the workbook.

this is the error

"cannot find #REF!#REF!, which has been assigned to run each time [xxx.xls] is opened.continuing....."

Now it always looks like there is something wrong with the file. Anyone knows how to solve this?

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
If you go Insert>Name>Define do you have any funny looking names that shouldn't be there? If so, try removing them.

Do you have any code in the workbook? Specifically anything in the Workbook_Open event or Auto_Open macro?

Richard,

Tx, indeed, a lot of strange defined ranges between my own's. That was something I didn't check. I'll remove them all.

How could I possibly avoid them in the future if I do something similar like copying a sheet from one workbook into another one?

Thanks,
shodan
