This is a long shot but does anyone have any experience of using ArcMap and specifically writing VBA code for it. I'm trying to find out how to do simple things such as select features of a particular layer which have certain attributes. Even a link to some websites that have info about using VBA in ArcMap would be helpful. I find the Esri website and forums rather unhelpful (their design that is, i'm sure the people on the forums are nice enough)

Annoyingly ArcMap doesn't seem to let you record macros in the way Excel does which is the main way I learn how to do stuff - record yourself doing it then look at the code generated automatically and proceed to fiddle with it to see what happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Thanks
