Hello,

I'm new to this forum and I have two questions (one which I will post in a new thread).

I have started using Excel 2007 recently and am having trouble with the filter. I used to use 2003 and I'm sure that I could filter to return the top 10 occurances of a word. If I had a list of, say, 20 different animals, Dog, Cat, Cow reoccuring over 200 rows in column C I could filter the top 10.

I can't seem to find how to do that in 2007 Excel. Can anybody help please or tell me an alternative way to be able to do this?

Thank you!

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
AutoFilter will only let you do a Top 10 on a column that contains numeric values.

Have you considered creating a Pivot Table?

Thanks for the reply. I've never used Pivot Tables before :/ I'll have a look but I don't want to have to redo all my data.

Thanks

In 2007 when you apply a filter once you select the drop down arrow look at Number filters and Top 10 is in there
