Ok, so we are having an issue with Excel 2003 at our work. One of our employees is having an issue where when she has a spreadsheet opened (doesn't matter which one) and she goes to open another one (again, doesn't matter which file), Excel closes with no errors. It just disppears.
I have scanned the computer with antiviruses and such and the only thing that has come back is some tracking cookies but that is about it.
The weird thing is, when I open Excel in safe mode it doesn't seem to happen.

We also checked the event viewer and there is no error, so it seems the program is closing without an error.

What could be the issue here with Excel? And does anyone know a fix for this because this is really annoying.

Thank you!

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
How is the first workbook opened exactly? Is it from within Excel, using the File/Open menu command, or is it by short-cut key, or by launching from Explorer or elsewhere?

Same query for the other one ( you say "she goes to open another one" .... how exactly? ).

All the files are in folders on the servers. She double clicks the files in the folders to open them.

No one else is having the issues, and the issue is not related to certain files.

When Excel is open, have you checked for other workbooks opening from the startup folder, or for any code in the Personal.xls that could be doing this?

How would I check for these things? Not very good when it comes to code or anything to that matter, so is it rather simple?

Open Excel, and press Alt-F11 to get the VBE displayed, and View the project explorer for any other open workbooks.

Is there just the one VBA project in there ( with those objects, Sheet1 and Thisworkbook ) ... and what is it's name? Is it one that you expect to be there? Have you double-clicked the ThisWorkBook object to display it's code pane to see if there is any code there?

I will check this out and get back to you on this issue. I tried uninstalling Office 2003 and reinstalling and it worked without issue for a day and then it went back to closing out again.
