I am trying to convert "1 Jan" to a date so I can sort a list of these dates e.g.

1 Jan
3 Jan
13 Jan

sorted become

1 Jan
13 Jan
3 Jan

This is happening because Excel see 1 Jan as a text how do I convert it to a date I have tried making the cell a custom date DD MMM but Excel still sorts it incorrectly

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
Try this...
• Select your single-column range of "dates"
• Data.Text-to-columns
...Click: Fixed Width....Click: Next....Click: Next
...Check: Dates....DMY
...Click: Finish

Format the dates to display any way you want them.

Does that help?
