Excel Geniuses,

This is the first addin I've created in 2007.. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I'm following the same process I use to install my xla addins but my new addin won't show up on the Addin Tab.

I've written it in a fresh workbook. Save that workbook as xlam, have placed it in a few different places hoping it would make a difference (it hasn't)...
C:\Documents and Settings\~user~\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\xlstart
C:\Documents and Settings\thompsok\Application Data\Microsoft\addins

Regardless of where it's saved I use the (only way I know of) standard install procedures Office Button/Excel Options/Addins... Manage Excel Addins-Go... it shows up there, I check it...

and nothing... I do the same with all other addins (.xla) and they show up on the Addins Tab. Uncheck them they disappear, check them they appear. That's how I understand it should work.

So... is there something different with a .xlam? I have the module name the same as the main sub. What to do?

Thanks,
Ken

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
I forgot completely about the Workbook_AddinInstall stuff I needed to do on the worksheet... I remembered once I wrote this post. Sorry for wasting your time!

Thanks,
Ken

That is probably not a good idea.

Definitely not a good idea - I normally use xxxMod for my Module names so I can differentiate them. Where xxx = any text name you like.

Also have you included 2 specific macros that you will need to get an Add-In to work?

Namely,
Private Sub Workbook_AddinInstall() and
Private Sub Workbook_AddinUninstall()

?

You'll need to code these in order for the Add-In to show up. Have a look at http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/excel-add-in-create.htm to see how to work with these.

EDIT: Ok you sorted it as I was typing :)
