Hello All,

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my thread.
I am wanting to chart a person's retirement years and a percentage of survival based upon that age and a life expectancy.
For instance, someone may be retiring at age 65 and we will assume that person's life expectancy is 90, while another person may be retiring at 70 and they may have a life expectancy of 95.
The idea is that the chart will automatically change with each use (or input), but i want it to automatically change based upon the inputs given ("retirement age" and "life expectancy"). I also want it to "fill in" every year in between.
A more specific example would be:
A person specifies in the spreadsheet that they will retire at age 75. The spreadsheet determines that the life expectancy is age 100.
I want the spreadsheet to automatically create a chart that starts at age 75 and ends at age 100 and includes every year in between. Each year should also contain the determined % of survival rate in the chart specific to each age.
Hopefully this makes sense. Look forward to hearing back. Thanks!

Excel Facts

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Great article! Thanks for getting that over to me. However, my situation is slightly different (I think).
This spreadsheet is to be only used for one person each time. What I mean by this is that there will be a questionnaire that someone answers questions to and then based upon those answers a presentation of charts, etc is presented to them based upon formulas of their inputs.
So, the chart will be unique to each participant each time. I want to set up a chart to be based upon some of the participant's responses.
Again, the parameters for the x-axis would be integers ranged between a min and a max which is based upon the inputs they give to some of the questions ("min" would be "retirement age", and max would be "life expectancy"). So each participant may have different retirement ages and different life expectancies (and thus different ranges in between as well).
So I want the chart to reflect the specific range in between the min and max and only that range (if possible). And then be set up to reflect the next participant's info when they do the survey. Thanks!

You have just one data point (someone's retirement age and their life expectancy at that age). I assume the age is on the x axis and the expectancy is on the y axis.

So, given that you have just one data point what do you want to fill in?

Apologies as I am not making things clearly understandable. I'll try another approach...
The X-axis range will be between the retirement age and the life expectancy.
For Example...

A participant using the spreadsheet dictates that their retirement age will be 65. After answering some other questions on the spreadsheet it formulates that this participant's life expectancy is age 95. Therefore, the range I want to evaluate in this example will be from age 65 through age 95. This will be the range for the x-axis.
Furthermore, at each age in retirement (and based upon other calculations in the spreadhseet) the spreadsheet determines a potential survival rate at each age. This "survival rate" will be the y-axis. (So this is basically a column chart)

Because this is a spreadsheet program that is to be participant accessed, I want the chart to be formatted to only include the range on the x-axis that is respective to that participant's retirement age and life expectancy (as one participant's retirement range may be 35 years, and another may be 27 years, and so on). Hopefully this is more clear. Thanks!!
