Hello forum. I have a spreadsheet that worked fine in 2002. I copy a cell that fully contains a shape and paste it somewhere else and it pastes the shape as well, or it did before Office 2007. In 2007 it doesn't copy or paste the shape in the cell. Has anyone seen a workaround for this? Thanks for your input.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
If you create a new shape in a cell, does that copy OK?

No. It has something to do with the new way shapes are handled starting in excel 2007. To me, it's a significant loss of functionality, and I'm going to have to find some other way of accomplishing what was a simple task.

I found the answer to the question after I realized that the same issue crops up if you right click a sheet tab and make a copy of the sheet. No shapes were getting copied over. That gave me more search terms to use.

To regain the functionality go to excel options > advanced > and make sure "Cut, copy, and sort inserted objects with their parent cells" is checked.
