excel 2007 mmddyyyy mmddyyyy

On my computer, there is an excel which is 05092011 i.e 9-may-2011

but when i send it to a friend, on his computer it is 09052011 i.e 5-sep-2011

is that a setting problem in excel? how to harmonize that?

That likely has to do with the system's locale settings, not something you can alter in Excel. The locale settings are in Window's Control Panel.

It is probably because your friend's cell format is set differently.

Simply tell a friend to change the format of the cells to mmddyyyy?
