Excel 2007 Pivot Table Label format changes to date

I have a pivot table with numbers as some of the row labels. When I initially created the pivot table, it seemed to work fine, but now every time the table refreshes or I try to create a new pivot table in the same worksheet, it reformats the label in date format (i.e., "Tuesday, January 03, 1900" instead of "3"). I've tried reformatting the source data and manually formatting the cells. I've also tried unchecking and checking the "Preserve formatting" check box several times. I am at the end of my rope with this one. Can anyone provide a solution?

Thanks,
Stephanie

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
I've also had this problem. My pivot table also has sums so if I reformat the columns back to "number" the sum totals still say "january 1, 1900". I just don't get it and am still having trouble with this. It has only happened within the last 2 months so just wondering if an excel update had something to do with this. I'm using excel 2007. :eeek:
