Hello, I need some help from one of you experts.

I just installed XL 2010 (was previously using XL 2007), but an XL workbook will not open full screen unless the Personal workbook is unhidden. If I unhide the personal workbook, Excel opens full screen but the personal workbook also opens. I do not want the personal workbook to open in addition to the workbook I an opening to work in.

I have hidden the personal workbook so it will not open, but when I do, XL will not open full screen. I even maximized the workbook, saved it, closed it, and reopened it, but it still will not open full screen unless the personal workbook is unhidden.

How can I have XL open full screen without the personal workbook also opening?

Thanks

David

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Firstly, hide your Personal.xlsm.

Open your Visual Basic Editor (Press <alt>+<f11>), select your Personal.xlsm workbook in the Project Explorer window on the left. Go to the menu and select File>Save>Personal.xlsm. Close Excel and reopen it. All should be as you expect.

Hope this helps.

Hello David,

Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, even after following your steps, my XL workboods do not open full screen.

One thing I noticed, when I opened the VBE, my personal workbook was personal.xls, not personal.xlsm. I dont usually save them in the xlsm format. Would that make a difference? If so, what should I do to fix it.

The interesting thing is at home I have the same 2010 version and work with some of the same workbooks, but do not experience this problem.

Usually if you maximize the Excel window before saving a file it will open maximized the next time it's launched.

If there is a macro error when you open your excel workbook you need to check where the error is. Does any macro in the Personal.xls file do anything to files you open?
