Ever since I installed Excel 2010 I can't open an Excel file from Explorer. When I click on a file Excel opens but the file isn't there. Files open fine when opened from within Excel.

Is there a setting that will fix this?

Thanks

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Click File, click Options, click Advanced, scroll down to General and untick Ignore other applications...

I tried this solution (uncheck ignore other DDEs) to no avail.

Also tried going to Add/Change Programs- change Office - Make Excel not available - reboot - and changed Excel to run.

I can open the file thru excel - open or choosing the file from the recent list

But with Explorer, can't double click or right click "Open"
but if I choose "open with", I get all the worksheets!

I checked always use this program for this type of file but it did not resolve the issue.

Coincidentally (or not) I just upgraded to Spy Bot 2.06 Beta and ran it - also ran the AVG virus scanner and removed something called TR/Crypt.CFI.Gen.

On the excel grey screen issue - I uninstalled the latest Spy Bot spybotsd-2.0.6-beta4.exe - I had just installed it just before the problem started. After the uninstall, the problem went away.
