haven't encountered this problem before ... my workbook has 3 sheets. one of them, the "main dashboard" is displaying text.

i'm referencing a cell range from that sheet on a different worksheet ... however instead of displaying the text, it's returning '0' in the cell.

i've never encountered this problem before and so far I have tried the following fixes:
1. on view tab, i turned off 'display formulas'
2. in the cell, i made sure the format was 'text'
3. i tried un-merging the cell range that is being referenced.

it's quite baffling and i've been using excel for years (but i'm pretty new with excel 2010 since i always used 2007 when i worked in analytics) ... also frustrating. anyone know what the problem is?

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
also if there's another thread that deals with this problem, if someone could point me to it, that would be much appreciated ^^

Can you show us how you're referencing the cell range? I mean, show us the formula you're using?

I suspect the merge cells is the problem. If you reference a cell and get 0 when you should get text, chances are you are referring to an empty cell instead of the one with the text in.
