I need to type the acronym "timme" in Excel 2007. It's an acronym. As soon as I hit the space bar after typing it, Excel changes it to the word time. I've added timme to my custom dictionary so why does it keep doing this?

Perhaps, the first time Excel auto-corrected the "timme" entry, it created an internal "auto-correct" list to correct it every time "timme" is typed. Even after adding it to the custom dictionary, the auto-correct first corrects it before checking the internal dictionary.

I use Excel 2003. To remove the auto-correct entry, go to "Tools > Auto Correct Options". In the "AutoCorrect" tab, in the "Replace text as you type" panel, scroll to "timme - time" entry and delete it.

This should solve your problem. Since you added "timme" to custom dictionary, it won't correct it henceforth.
