Hi
I know in Excel how to give an Excel Chart a typed in Title.
Is there a way I can give an Excel Chart the name of data in a Cell.

Eg If in Cell A1 I type in Icecream can I refer to this cell at the title of the Excel chart.

Any help or advice would be gratefully welcomed.

Hi,

Not sure if this is what you're after. But for my titles in charts, I use a text box, and then when the text box is selected, I hit F2, this will take to to the edit line. You than type in the equals symbol "=" you can the reference your cell there, B3 for example .

The title will then be whatever ever is in B3.

Hope this helps.

I didn't manage to get an answer here but I did get to find the answer.

Create your chart as you normally would.
Add whatever titles, datapoints, axis names, etc. are desired.
Select the title you want to modify. Small handles should appear around the title.
In the Formula bar enter the address of the cell you want to use for the title. For instance, if the title is in cell A1 of the MySheet worksheet, you would enter the following in the formula bar:
=MySheet!$A$1

Thanks for your reply Richard.
I think your solution is also the one I used.
I'm surprised its not more obvious in Excel 2007 and should have been an option.

Kind Regards
Hector

Yes not really made very clear is it - one limitation is that you can only reference a single cell, so if you want to generate your chart title from eg a formula referencing many cells then you need to place this formula in a worksheet cell and then reference this formula cell from the chart title box.

Hi Richard

I think you can also use several contiguous cells or even a row or a column to concatenate the values.
