I have recently upgraded to Excel 2010. I discovered by chance that when running a macro that contains the code "application.screenupdating = false" causes Excel to close down. Since removing this code and then running the macro, it runs without fail

Is there a new code in Excel 2010 for application.screenupdating = false or is this a problem that Microsoft is working on?

It would be appreciated if someone could advise me regarding this

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Hi Howard,

I use screenupdating all the time in excel 2010, I would suggest that it is a problem with another part of your code which cause the script to fail.

i.e. the code relies on a specific value to be updated, with screenupdating=false the cell isn't updated and therefore the code fails.

This is typically what happens to me if screenupdating is disabled and I forget to turn it back on before running a specific piece of code and then once that piece of code has run then you can disable it again etc...

Hi Jaye

Thanks for getting back to me. I have one macto called Auto_Update which runs several macros. I have application.screenupdating = False in one of the sub macro's and also in the Macro AutoUpdate.

Maybe having it twice, causes Excel to shut down
