Excel closing on exit

I'm getting the message. Microsoft Office Excel has encounterd a problem and needs to close. Then it restarts the file I was closing. Why would this be happening?
 

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Sort by date Sort by votes
Because the file you are closing is having a problem so Excel is taking a safe route shut down. Best idea is to try to copy your data into a new sheet and identify what is causing the problem.
