Coworker of mine sent me a spreadsheet that whenever he saves it, some (but not all) of the formulas are being converted to the value and not saving the formula. He has to recreate it every time.

However, the problem did not occur for me. I edited/saved multiple times and it always came back to the way I saved it. It appears that this only occurs for formulas that are referencing other sheets (it's a financial "roll-up" sheet) , but I don't guarantee that. The other detail I noticed (should be irrelevant but...) is that is is saved in an Excel 97 format.

Any ideas? Since I couldn't reproduce it I couldn't offer any help...

Sounds like your co-worker has a macro of some sort converting them.

Frankly, he isn't that fancy and the spreadsheet isn't complicated enough to warrant them. That said, I looked in the developer and no VBA code anywhere.

Are there any Excel or COM add-ins installed?

Doesn't that depend on the Excel application rather than the file? Either way, not that I can tell.

Yes it application based, but if your co-worker has add-ins installed on his/her computer, it could be causing a problem.

Another thing, does this just happen on the one workbook, or all workbooks?

Just this one. Older versions of it seem to be OK. I doubt he's Excel-savvy enough to have installed any add-ins. :)

In that case, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

Does the problem occur on his machine when you are operating it?
Is it possible that he is mis-reporting what he does and what happens thereafter?

I haven't had access to his machine (Laptop at his house). Pretty sure he's doing it right. An older version is working so he's reverting back to it. I told him I got's nothing for him.

Thanks!
