I set my mouse color to be bright green in the Windows system settings because it stands out from normal white application backgrounds. Most applications use the system color for the mouse pointer except for Excel when hovering over cells. When pointing at menus or sheet tabs, it shows fine.

Does anybody know of a MS Office setting that can force Excel to use the System color setting for the mouse pointer when working around the cells?

  1. Use Win + I to open up Settings.
  2. Select Bluetooth & devices in Windows 11’s Settings app. You’ll need to select the Devices category in Windows 10.
  3. Click Mouse to view settings for that device type.
  4. Select Additional mouse settings (or Additional mouse options) in the Windows Settings app
  5. Then click the Pointer Options tab in the Mouse Properties window that opens.
  6. Select the Show location of pointer when I press the Ctrl key checkbox.
This is a quick way to find the mouse, might help and it does work in Excel.
