dbl clicking opens file but doesn't show contents.
i can tell it's got the right file because it shows the contents of the selected cell in the fx box.

it opens fine in micrsoft365excel but not in excel2010

i want to use excel2010 because it offers MDI file handling (open all files in one window), but micrsoft365excel only offers SDI (each spreadsheet opens in a separate window)

it just started doing this. it used to work fine.

it only does this on some files.

i got a workaround from another forum: ctrl+f10 fixes it temporarily, but i would like to understand what's going on and get a permanent fix.

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
Do you have any code that sets the screen updating feature to false? Sometimes that can hang things up

It would be in the VBA editor, which is accessed via Alt+F11. It could be that you have some formulas that take a lot of time to process. Do you see a "Processing... X%" at the bottom of the Excel window?

i do not see anything in vba that is different than another file that displays normally.

i am testing with a version of the file that doesn't have any formulas.

is there a way to attach the offending file to this reply? posting an image would be useless as it is blank.

Dunno. I'd try makin a copy of the file. Use the copy and see if it still happens. You can also try copy/ pasting the contents into a new file manually and see if it happens. Seems like a version issue

In excel menu, go to view and make sure that contents are not hidden. click on Unhide.
