excel problem

Hi all

I have a problem when opening to workbooks in excel.
I used to be open an excel workbook and then go to another spreadsheet on my desktop and open that and i would be able to create formulas etc between the two workbooks.
Now though this no longer works i now have to use the open icon in excel and then find the file which takes a long time when i have hundreds of files. Does anyone know how to fix this?
When i got to window at the top it is not showing both my workbooks that i have open.

Are you somehow opening the other workbook in a separate instance of Excel?

i am not sure, how do i know? and how do i make it so that excel automatically opens in one instance?

Hi,

What version are you using?? If it is 2003 perhaps you have the 'windows in taskbar' ticked??

Got to 'Tools'-->'Options'-->'View'--> Then untick 'Windows in taskbar'

Close excel down and open it again and see if it solves the prob.
