excel spreadsheet will not open

excel spreadsheet appears to be opening, can see a quick view, however it doesn't appear on the screen, does anyone know what could be happening?

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
