Excel Worksheet Opening when Open xls file

Hi,

When I open an excel file, another worksheet (Book 1) is simultaneously opening.

This is causing me a problem because I have to open a special online file that doesn't allow excel to already be open.

How do I stop this extra worksheet from opening everytime I try to open an excel file?

Thanks,
Randy

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
Perhaps,

locate the XLSTART folder on your primary drive of the computer, generally C:\. In Windows XP & Windows 2000, the path would be something like "C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART". Check if the particular file which opens is stored in that folder.

Besides, you can also start Excel as an application when you first load the same on your computer without opening any workbook. You just need to put an '\e' in the end of target location of Microsoft Excel shortcut on your desktop.

Thanks for your response.

I check that location, and there is nothing there.

But i've found something else out.

In location C:\Documents and Settings\rwilcox\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel

a file called 'Excel11.xlb' is being created everytime I open an Excel file.

If I delete it, it is recreated when I open another excel file.

I've tried opening the application, then closing the book 1, then opening the file I need to open and it still doesn't work. So I think I need to resolve this problem of an extra worksheet opening when I launch an excel file.

Any other thoughts?

Hi Randy,

Try and google the keywords "XLB file extension" on Google.com. You may find something on these links. I cannot open third party websites from here as I am in office rite now.

Keep us updated :)
