hi

I have problem with memory when I open my excel file. the excel file itself is 6MB and takes 600MB in memory when is open (looking from task manager's performance).

advice me please what to do.

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
This sounds like a serious problem - I cannot imagine any reason for a workbook to use up so much memory. Are you sure you are interpreting the task manager data correctly? Can you say what is the actual figure you are reading (before and after opening the workbook), and for what kind of memory?

I think I make no mistake interpreting the task manager. maybe its becaus of VBA which uses quite big memory? but anyway, the usage is maximum as soon as I open the workbook...

I use Dim saq(0 To 20000) As MyType (it has many subtype). I change 20000 to 2000 and push to save the workbook. the usage of memory from 1,4GB went to 850MB at once. after I cnaged 2000 to 20000, but usage of memory stays 850MB, until I don't use the VBA.

so now I need if possible do this automatically - after VBA finishes its work, let it free the memory at once ?!...

It's hard to say without knowing more specific information about your vba program and how it works.
