Expand Field option without saving underlying data

I have several reports that are made up of pivot tables attached to Access databases. Because of the size of the data I need to uncheck the option to save the underlying data. However, I loose the ability to expand and collapse the data when that is done. Is there any method around this, so that the data that is left can be be expanded and collapsed withouth the underlying data?
