Expanding workbook columns?

I have a workbook that I am using that ends at column IV. I tried to add a few new columns so I could insert some additional information and I received a message saying that "Excel cannot shift nonblank cells off of the worksheet."

Is there anyway for me to add additional columns to a workbook? I have other workbooks that I am using that go far beyond column IV, so I do not know why this particular one ends at column IV.

Thank you,

Tim

Yes, upgrade to Excel 2007 or 2010 - They have 16384 Columns available.

I do have Excel 2007, however I believe this worksheet was originally created in an earlier version (2003?). How can I save this worksheet into the 2007 version?

The Save As Type dropdown should include

Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) and

Excel Macro-enabled Workbook (*.xlsm)

Yes you are correct, when I tried saving it in Excel Macro-enabled Workbook (*.xlsm) I received a message saying that Excel Macro-enabled Workbook (*.xlsm)already exists. I saved it again, however the last column is still IV.

Try this: click the Office button (top left), click Excel Options, click Save, in Save files in this Format select Excel Macro-enabled Workbook (*.xlsm) then click OK. Then save, close and re-open the workbook.
