Hi
I have a spreadsheet that is used to track Dividend Reinvestment Plans. I am trying to understand the various formulas imbedded in the spreadsheet. One of the formulas has an explanation mark ! in it. what does it mean.

I will paste the complete formula, so if someone can decipher it for me that would be great.

The "update" is a worksheet called Update G9 is the cell in that sheet where the info is but what does the ! do or mean

=Update!G9

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Hi,

It's just a way for Excel to separate the name of the worksheet from the cell address. If you select ranges with the mouse (point and click) Excel adds that automatically and you don't need to think about it or pay much attention to it. If you are typing in a reference in a formula by hand then you'd need to use it I guess, if the reference is on another sheet. I use point and click more often myself.

HTH,
