The rest of the oranisation is still running Excel 2003. We've got Excel 2007 as we deal more than 65k rows of data.

Cunning plan was to create a xl 2003 pivot table linking to external data with more than 65k rows in a xl 2007 workbook. - doesn't work. Get one of those send error reports.

Tried linking to external data in the xl2007 file saved as a csv file - doesn't work either - wants to import the data.

Any other idea's - maybe some other file format.

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
How did you try linking to the csv file ... what method?

Saved the xl 2007 file as a csv closed it and opened a compatability xl2003 and tried to Get Data in a xl2003 Pivot Table - didn't work but.

But have sucessfully saved the file as a xl2007 csv. Imported it into Access and saved it as an access database file and used get external data to drive an xl 2003 pivot table.

Apparantly Access can link to a workbook worksheet as a dynamic range which would make the process quicker.

Other way would be to create a .cub file but not sure how that works. Think IT have to give access to OLAP cubes. Help has all about it. My data tab is greyed out.

Still open to any other ideas out there.

cheers
