An original file has a 500 character text string [wrapped text format] in a single cell of this worksheet.

I created an external reference to this cell in a second file.
If first file is closed and second is opened and I choose to update links, only 255 characters of the external reference becomes displayed. Is there a way to get the complete text string of the orignating file to display in the destination file? Assume formatting, cell length, row height is the same between the two files

Thanks a bunch.

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.

You're restricted to 255 characters here. You could however write a macro in the workbook_open event that could update your information. HTH.
