extract part of data in a cell

In a cell there is data such as, "Trans071910/10/2002:16:15" and I only want "10/10/2002". How would I extract the information needed? Thank so much!!!

Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
=MID(cell_here,10,10)


...although limited in it's own fashion.

If the format of the text is always the same (i.e. the date is always 10 characters and the time is always 6 characters) then you could use:

=LEFT(RIGHT(A1,16),10)

AlohaJulio hit it on the spot though, the date must be the 10th charachter from the left for the formula to work. so this is where it's limited.

a more dynamic formula would be required if this is not the case.
