Hi Guys,

i need some sort of dynamic way to extract information form previous spredsheets. What I want is to have the cumulative mileage of cars in my expense sheet running through to the next sheet when a new claim form is being made. Any suggestions???

Cheers

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Hi shaikhiy,

My suggestion would be to write (update the totals of) the data to a simple text file each time you save or close your workbook, and read it from that file whenever you open it. That way it doesn't matter if you rename your workbooks, or move them to other folders, etc. It will always find the previous mileage totals since it has a hard-wired path to the text file. Of course this would require a few lines of VBA code, but it is simple VBA code to write.
