Just a quick question.

I have the following in two cells
Toronto Branch
Dallas Branch

I just want to extract Toronto and Dallas from the two cells. How do i do that?

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Good afternoon

If your first string is in A1, then this formula copied down will do the trick :

=LEFT(A1,LEN(A1)-7)

Hi baggarwal

The formula works fine for me - it chops off the last 6 characters of each cell = removing the word branch.

What cells are your data in?

Thankyou so much for the formula. The problem was the data had some spaces which caused some problems.
