I have a spreadsheet which I have a countA formula which counts all the cells which have the specified criteria.

Is there a way that I can set it up that when I filter a column the formula will give me the result of the new data.

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Conditional counting cannot be done with COUNTA.

You can do counting on a filtered list using...

=SUBTOTAL(3,Range)

where 3 refers to COUNTA that SUBTOTAL applies op de visible cells in Range.
