Find missing value to make sum equal given number

Hi,

I am looking for a formula that help to auto-fill an emty cell (in a range) with value to make total sum equal a given number.

Say a1=2, b1=4, c1=6, what formula do to find value of d1 to make the total e1=sum(a1:d1)=15

I know it may sound silly but I really need help. thks.

Try

=15-SUM(A1:C1)

You can also try to put whatever you want in e1 in e1 and write the following code in d1

=e1-sum(a1:c1)

Now even if you change the value in e1, the value in d1 will automatically change to meet your requirement.
