Hi all,

I need to search a column to find the first cell containing a date (any date).

For example, in column A may be empty, may be locked, or may contain text or a date. I need to scan the column and select the first unlocked cell containing a date.

Any help appreciated ...

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Something like this?
Code:
Sub Macro()
'For column A
n = Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
For r = 1 To n
   If Cells(r, "A").Locked = False And _
      Cells(r, "A").NumberFormat = "m/d/yyyy" Then
      Cells(r, "A").Select
      Exit Sub
   End If
Next
End Sub
