Flash Fill uses

Hello

I try to generate the sequence below with Flash Fill but it does not seem to be able to do that which is quite disappointing:
Product1
Product2...

I put Product1 in A1 and Product2 in A2 and I select A1:A10 and click Flash Fill but it does not work.

Any idea?

Hi, I've just typed in Product1 in A2 and Product2 in A3, highlighted both, then used the drag down (bottom right dark square of the highlighted area) and this filled the rest in for me. the flash fill (Ctrl+E) tells me that there is not a pattern.

FlashFill is based on patterns in adjacent data. It's not for filling series since autofill already does that.

Thanks! So as I understand it, FlashFill needs:

1) One column (not row) with reference data
2) One cell next to the reference data that has a 'manual' transformation of the respective cell of the reference data
3) FlashFill will simply repeat the manual transformation in the cells below

Is the above all that FlashFill does? Because I was hoping to be a more capable pattern filler that will identify a sequence pattern in two cells and it can generate more sequence entries.

E.g. a 1A, 2A, cannot be dragged to autofill to 3A.
