. I just have a quick question about folder optimization. I was just wondering when it comes to pulling data from external workbooks if it matters to have the external workbook that you’re pulling data from in the same folder as the workbook you’re working in. I just want to know if the workbook location affects speed and what are the fastest ways to work with external workbooks,.

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
External workbooks work faster if they on a local drive rather than a network drive, but main thing you should consider is that you have supporting workbooks in the same folder as the reporting workbook, or in sub-folder of that one. This makes it very easy to copy the reporting workbook to another location while keeping the relative locations of the supporting data intact.
