Form that autopopulates today's date and other related questions

I have to have data entered daily. The Table has a few columns one of which is date, the next is a value that comes from another sheet that is updated daily and the third is a column that should be the same as the prior day unless the user updates.

Ideally I want to create a form which 1) populates today's date automatically, 2) after populating the value from the other sheet, it shold tunr it into a value, and 3) if the field is left blank it uses the prior day amount.

Is this possible?

Yes, this is possible with VBA. It's pretty straightforward, actually, but I suppose it comes down to how comfortable you are with a VBA solution.
