Format after sorting imported data

After I import data from an accounting system I cannot format it after it has been sorted. It can be formatted prior to sorting. Other than formatting first, is there a workaround?

does this problem occur with *other* outputted info from your Accounting System ?

WHat do you mean by "import" ? is it exporting an excel-type file or some other format which you are then opening with Excel?

is your blank worksheet a template of any sort or is it a nice clean book1?

is there any existing conditional formatting present?
