formatting for yr and months

Hi,

I'm trying to convert ages (which appear in the format of , for example,
5y 2m, 6y 10m or 11y 9m).

Does anyone know of a formula that could convert these ages into months?

=LEFT(A1,FIND("y",A1)-1)*12+MID(SUBSTITUTE(A1,"m",""),FIND(" ",A1)+1,255)
