formatting text in formula

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
If the cell has a formula, you cannot apply a format to just a specific character of the result of the formula.
Any format applied, applies to the entire result of the formula.

Sorry.

To do it, you would have to remove the formula
Copy / PasteSpecial / Values

Then you can apply the special format to just the specific character of the value.

Hi - I tried that using this:

Selection.Replace What:="(I)", Replacement:="(I)", LookAt:=xlPart, _
SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False, _
ReplaceFormat:=True

with the options in the replace box to change the format. two problems with this, one, the format bit does not record with the macro, and two even if it did, then i changes the whole format of the cells contents, not just the (I) I want ...
Any thoughts?
