Formatting

In row 500, columns A-AZ, I have a formula as follows (all relative): "=If(A4="Yes",0,A4)". The cells in row 500 are formatted as dates. The problem is that when a zero appears in the dependant cell, in this case A4, the date 1/1/1900 appears in A500. I need row 500 to be formatted as dates. Is there any way to work around this result?

Maybe =IF(A4="","",IF(A4="Yes",0,A4))
