formula for finding the right combination

hello to all mr/mrs excel,

I have the following excel problem for you all:

i have a list with several numbers:

x1,
x2,
x3,
...
x30 lets say

and a number Y which is a sum of one of the numbers above but don't know which.

is there a formula or a macro to find out which sum combination between x1,...x30 represents the Y?


any ideeas your be appreciated.

This works great, but does anyone know how I would expand it? I have more than 30 items. I tried changing stat, statb, and elems to 90 from 30, but it still doesn't work for more than 30.

Hi, that one only gets the first combination, to find all combinations try this one:
