I am putting any formula in a worksheet it shows as if I used it as text, meaning, it shows the full formula and does not do anything. My sheet has 18000 rows and it is on manual calculation mode, even F9 does not do anything.

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Is the Column formatted as Text?

Or is there an apostrophe at the start of your formula?

<TABLE style="WIDTH: 303pt; BORDER-COLLAPSE: collapse" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=404 border=0 x:str><COLGROUP><COL style="WIDTH: 117pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 2852" width=156><COL style="WIDTH: 186pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 4534" width=248><TBODY><TR style="HEIGHT: 15pt; mso-height-source: userset" height=20><TD class=xl24 dir=ltr style="BORDER-RIGHT: #ece9d8; BORDER-TOP: #ece9d8; BORDER-LEFT: #ece9d8; WIDTH: 117pt; BORDER-BOTTOM: #ece9d8; HEIGHT: 15pt; BACKGROUND-COLOR: white" width=156 height=20 x:num>9.5</TD><TD class=xl24 dir=ltr style="BORDER-RIGHT: #ece9d8; BORDER-TOP: #ece9d8; BORDER-LEFT: #ece9d8; WIDTH: 186pt; BORDER-BOTTOM: #ece9d8; BACKGROUND-COLOR: white" width=248 x:fmla="=ISTEXT(A1)" x:bool="FALSE">=ISTEXT(W17423)</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

no text, no apostrophe, as you can see.

I thought the issue was that the formula you were entering was showing as text, i.e. Excel wasn't recognising it as a formula. Where does the 9.5 come from?

The file was corrupted, I opened it in a new window, and it worked fine. I thought it is due to a large file, then I checked I have even larger files and they work fine.

Thanks Matty
