I am trying to come up with a dollar loss figure.

In this case Column AE is retail dollars on returns.
Column AG is loss units
Column AH is return units
The point of the formula is to determine the dollar amount on the returns that may have contributed to the total dollar amount.
Since this is not saying that the return definitely resulted in a loss, it is not important to know the total loss dollars.

I know this formula is wrong, but I have no idea what the correct formulate would be, so i gave this a shot. Needless to say, I got an insufficient arguments message when I tried this.

"=SUMIFS(SHRINK!AI2:AI2257,"countif(SHRINK!AG2:AG2257)<0","countif(SHRINK!AH2:AH2257",">0"))"

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
It would help if you put a sample of your data, about 8 sample records and the result you need.

NOTE XL2BB:
MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Instructions on using this tool can be found here: XL2BB Add-in
Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.
