Hi,

I am looking for a formula that will allow me to count the number of Type A Hammers with the data that I have below.

Thanks,
Phil

Tool Type Cost Area
Hammer A 2.5 1
Spade A 3 2
Hose A 4 1
Hammer A 2.2 3
Hammer B 2.6 2

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
Hello

try

=SUMPRODUCT(--($A$1:$A$10="Hammer"),--(B1:B10="A"))

or alternatively put Hammer and A into a cell and use these cell refs.

You could always use Pivot Tables.
