I am not receiving an error when I put my formula in the bar: =COUNTA('Ford ZAG'!B3:B14). Rather, the formula shows up in the cell instead of calulating the number of items reflected within those cells. Also, I am trying to use the formula =D3+'V:\2011\McCafferty - Langhorne\[04.xls]Ford ZAG total'!E3
and again, the formula shows up in the cell rather than the number that should be reflected. i can't check the error because it will only do that if there is an error message. I am confused, because I know the formula is correct (it works on other pages.) Please advise. Thank you. :banghead:

Excel Facts

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.

This is typical behavior when the cells are formatted as TEXT.

Select the cell(s) in question
Change the cell format to General
With the cell still selected hit function key F2 then hit Enter.
