I've got 2 questions but I'll ask them separately. I have a varying unit of time which can be hours, minutes and seconds, although it's usually less than one hour. I would like to divide that time by various numbers and have the result display in minutes and seconds. I've tried formatting the display in Special as mm:ss and [mm]:ss but I either get 00:00 or some astronomical number that has nothing to do with anything. For example, if I divide 25 minutes by 12, the formatted answer should be 2 minutes and 5 seconds. I'm sure I'm missing something simple but I can't figure out what.

Any help would be appreciated.

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Is the time value in a cell?

If you have 0:25:00 in A2 denoting 25 minutes then this formula in B2 should be all you need

=A2/12

format B2 as mm:ss to see 02:05

If you want the time in the formula try

="0:25:00"/12

format as before
